September 2005
Dear All Saints' Family,
Janet and I just returned from a wonderful visit
with family and friends in California and are happy to be back in
beautiful Maryland to prepare for a full slate of activities at all
Saints' We both commented on how great it is to get back to our own bed
and a regular routine. It is good to take a break from everyday
responsibilities but our busy schedule of travel didn't always lend
itself to taking enough time for the spiritual disciplines of study,
prayer, and quiet time that keep us centered in the Lord. As Dorothy
said in the Wizard of Oz, "There's no place like home."
September is here and it is a great time for all
of us to rededicate ourselves to regular attendance at worship and t
continuing our spiritual growth by taking part in the many opportunities
for learning outlined in Fr. Dan's article. I am excited about what God
has in store for us in the doming year. The choir returns on September
11 and Church School begins with Homecoming on September 18. Under the
leadership of Erik Ewertz the Vestry has worked hard to plan a number of
seminars and classes to help us learn more about the joy of Christian
stewardship; Please consider attending these offerings. The Vestry is
also planning a new and exciting stewardship campaign for the fall. More
information on The Evergreen Program will be coming to you in the
next weeks and months.
Finally, on Sunday, October 23, 2we wil
celebrate the beginning of our 135th year as a Parish, 115th at our
present location, with a special combined service and reception.
You should be receiving a letter soon from our Anniversary Celebration
Committee, outlining the event and asking for a special donation
to help eliminate this year's budget shortfall. God has blessed this
parish for 135 years, and I truly believe the best is yet to come. May
the Lord continue to bless you, and see you in church.
In Christ,
Fr. David +
