Dear All Saints'
Family,
Happy Easter Season! Easter Sunday is behind us but I am still basking
in the joy of that blessed day. Holy Week and Easter services were
wonderful and uplifting and I want to thank everyone who made it all
possible. I am especially thankful that we had beautiful weather for our
open house. "Thank you Lord!" I love the fact that Easter is not just a
day but a season of celebration lasting through June 4 with the feast of
Pentecost. "Alleluia! Christ is Risen!" "The Lord is Risen Indeed!
Alleluia!"
Another blessing is that spring has sprung. Janet and I call the sudden
emergence of colorful flowers and green leaves on the trees, 'the
explosion'. Spring is the time to plant, mow the lawn, get the grill
out, enjoy the outdoors, and play golf! It is also a constant reminder
of the new life given to us in our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord is so
good to us in offering constant reminders of the many 'spiritual
explosions that happen in our lives. May this spring be a reminder of
his love and grace as we grow in our relationship with God.
I ask your prayers for a number of events coming up in the next few
weeks and months. Diocesan Convention is May 5 and 6, and I ask your
prayers for Clay, Fr. Dan and myself as we attend the meetings. Please
continue to pray for those on your Operation Andrew list that they will
be open to attending the Franklin Graham Festival in July. Also pray for
those who are attending the Christian Life and Witness classes in
preparation for the event.
The General Convention of the Episcopal Church will take place in June
and is perhaps the most important gathering in our history. At this
year's convention, a new Presiding Bishop will be elected, various items
will be legislated, but the most important decision will be ECUSA's
response to the Windsor Report. If Convention refuses to comply with the
demands of the report it could mean the end of the Episcopal Church as
we know it. Failure to comply ay mean that we walk away from the
Anglican Communion and choose to walk apart as a small independent
American denomination. Pray for our bishops and delegates that they make
wise decisions.
Always remember that God is God, Christ is risen, and we are safe in His
hands.
God bless you,
Fr. David+
